Our top 10 facts about liposuction
LIPOSUCTION - INTERESTING FACTS
TOP 10 facts
1. PAL – WAL – VASER which is better?
Depending on the initial conditions you come to us with, we will decide which surgical measure is the most suitable for you. The PAL and WAL methods are our standard methods. The vaser itself does not suction, it prepares the fatty tissue for liposuction. Particularly stubborn areas such as the back, calves, front of the thighs or secondary liposuction are just a few examples where we recommend VASER liposuction.
2. Outpatient or inpatient?
We only perform liposuction up to a volume of 3-5 liters on an outpatient basis. Our experience has shown that inpatient treatment has many advantages for larger volumes. For liposuction of 8 liters or more of pure fat, we recommend a stay of 2-3 days. From 10 liters we recommend 3 days or longer, we are talking here about pure lipoaspirate quantities (quantities of fatty tissue).
3. Maximum suction volume
Depending on the initial conditions, we aspirate many liters of pure fatty tissue and only use a percentage of body weight for liposuctions covered by health insurance. It depends much more on the area, underlying diseases, medical history and the course of the operation (temperature, bleeding, etc.).
4. Longevity of liposuction
For a good and long-lasting result, you should have a constant body weight for at least six months before the operation. Small fluctuations do not matter, but continuous weight gain is a poor starting condition. If the basic conditions for liposuction are good, the result will be sustainable and long-lasting.
5. The most important risks at a glance
Every liposuction, even the smallest, has its risks which must be openly addressed in the consultation. We will be happy to discuss these, taking into account your own risk profile, and answer all your questions in this regard.
6. Lymph vessel injury
A frequently asked question in connection with liposuction concerns the risk of lymph vessel injury. The probability of such an injury is considered low, especially when we use blunt cannulas and a gentle suction technique. For both lipoedema and aesthetic liposuction, we take all necessary measures to prevent damage to the lymphatic vessels.
7. Time between liposuctions
Depending on the areas to be liposuctioned, we recommend a recovery period of 3-6 months between the individual steps for extensive liposuctions. During this period, the body and tissue can recover sufficiently. This period can be shortened for smaller liposuctions.
8. Tissue slackening
Depending on the elasticity of your own tissue and the amount of fatty tissue to be removed, tissue sagging may occur afterwards. We therefore often recommend performing a minimally invasive tissue tightening using an inert gas plasma probe in the same step as liposuction. Should extensive tissue sagging nevertheless occur, we can discuss the options for tightening operations with you.
9. Compression and lymphatic drainage
After liposuction, compression treatment and lymphatic drainage therapy is an essential component. We recommend compression treatment for at least 8 weeks. Lymphatic drainage treatment can be started immediately, provided it does not cause any pain.
10. Showering with compression pants
Showering is permitted early after the procedure. The question often arises as to whether this must be done while wearing the compression garment. We strongly recommend removing the compression garment while showering. The compression garment can then be put back on.
